Discover Portugal and Spain opens in Lisbon — a city of hills, tiles, and fado — with a walking tour and a Market Challenge at Mercado Ribeira that puts students immediately into the rhythm of local life. The Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, one of Portugal's greatest architectural achievements, anchors the second day alongside a panoramic photo stop and an optional evening of fado music. The road east passes through Evora, where the Chapel of Bones delivers one of the tour's most memorable and thought-provoking moments, before the group crosses into Spain and arrives in Seville. Panoramic sightseeing, a guided visit to Seville Cathedral, and a walking tour through the city's historic neighbourhoods fill two full days. An optional Olive Oil Farm visit adds an agricultural and sensory dimension. Granada brings the tour's centrepiece: the Alhambra. A City Challenge en route sharpens students' observation skills before the palace complex delivers on every expectation. The following day, a walking tour of the Albaicin neighbourhood and a visit to the Royal Chapel of Granada — where Ferdinand and Isabella are buried — add historical depth. Madrid closes the base tour with a walking tour, free time in Retiro Park (including the Palacio de Cristal), and a visit to the Prado — one of the world's great art museums. The extension continues to Valencia for a walking tour of the city, then to Barcelona for two days: a walking tour, a visit to Parque Guell, and a Flamenco Evening to close the journey.
