Students will see traces of the many World War I battles that took place around Ypres. They will see locals express gratitude for those who gave their lives for Belgium’s freedom during the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate. They’ll also experience the Wellington Quarries in Arras, where thousands of soldiers lived underground prior to the Battle of Arras in April 1917.
