• Life Changing!

As an educator, I work hard to instill in my students a sense of citizenship and connection to the world around us. However, books, lectures and classroom experiences can only teach a limited scope of the wonderous world we inhabit. Enter...Costa Rica, a real wold classroom!

Our service learning experience in Costa Rica was life changing for myself and the 24 students who participated. We were greated with an astoundingly diverse environment, warm and welcoming people and experiences that enlightened our sense of the world. Whether it was feeding monkeys, walking on the beach, releasing sea turtles into the wild, restoring mangrove forests, or sharing culture and food with local residents, my students were the most engaged I have ever seen them.

For anyone on the fence of international travel, EF made this trip a priceless experience that taught my students to have care and compassion for mother Earth and her people. EF Tours took care of all the details so that as an educator I could just marvel in the wonder that is real-world education!

Quite simple, this tour was life changing and has deeply impacted my views on how students learn!

  • Way Below Expectations

It was very boring and not fun at all. You have very little freedom and are stuck on a bus for most of the trip

  • Hotels poor and extra costs not a good surprise

Hotels should at least have hot water and be clean for the money that was paid. Also the surprise of having to pay baggage fees for the one bag per student was unacceptable. The fee should either be included or made public up front. It cut into student cash supply and therefore student could not participate in other pay as you go events.
The actual events, activities, locations, and tour people were spectacular. It is a shame that these other things marred the overall tour experience.

  • Would send my son again!

My son had a wonderful time. He felt safe and as parents we felt safe as well. The teacher was excellent from our school and emailed us each night. He spent dinner last night reviewing what he did and what the students saw. It appeared to be a nice balance with fun/social things with the service project experience.

  • Best Trip Ever!

My EF tour in Costa Rica was the most amazing experience. I had high expectations but it was even better than expected. Our tour guide was absolutely wonderful, so welcoming, fun, and full of knowledge. We got a hands-on experience with service in the country by replanting mangrove trees. Not to mention exciting activities like ziplining, releasing baby sea turtles, and going to a waterfall. The hotels were nice and the food was great. It was the most unforgettable trip!

  • Incredible!

Our tour guide was fabulous; the range of activities was broad and well-picked; everyone was engaged and interested. I loved especially the emphasis on the natural environment in the early part of the tour, but would have appreciated a little more service elements to the tour. And more opportunities to use Spanish. Still, the country was absolutely splendid and I felt like the tour gave us a pretty wonderful picture of the best parts of what Costa Rica has to offer. A great memory!

  • Make a Difference

My students and I loved the opportunity to be involved in a hands-on solution to a problem that impacts Costa Rica and our world. We learned so much about Costa Rica's ecology through our tour director, an expert on all things Costa Rican, from flora and fauna to social and educational values. I loved the experience and the chance to meet new people while forming stronger bonds within our group. Given the quality of our hotels, I wish the price had been lower.

  • Wonderful Experience of a Lifetime!

I had so much fun. I Enjoyed helping out the environment, yet also having a bunch of fun doing excursions such as the canopy tour, experimental farm, (etc.)
